After enjoying the first snowfall in Minneapolis, Peter and I threw all of our belongings into bags and got on a plane headed toward sunny California. We landed on time and walked outside into the semi-arid climate full of palm trees and cacti. Everything leading up to our trip was a whirlwind of getting organized, making plans and saying our goodbyes. And now that we’re on our way, I’d like to post this in the spirit of Thanksgiving and give thanks to all those who have been supporting us or will be as we go along. Thanks to my parents who drove us to the airport with not quite as much stuff coming with us as was staying behind in storage…
Thanks to all those friends who came out on that first snowy night to say goodbye, you all mean a lot to us and we’re so glad to know you.
Thanks to Aunt Mary for cooking us a welcoming dinner of teriyaki chicken. Maisy-for the rice, Max-for washing dishes, and Madeleine- for letting me win at Zioncheck (at least the first time around).
Thanks to Nikki who let us in on a “Friendsgiving” dinner and didn’t skimp on the gravy.
Thanks to Peter’s aunt Banny for showing us around Ports O’ Call and treating us to a cruise around the harbor.
So as you can see, we have a lot to give thanks for this Thanksgiving. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we’ll continue to welcome your electronic, written, voiced, or sung words of encouragement throughout our travels. Keep reading and listening and feel free to add a song or lyrics that may encourage us or that this (or any) post reminds you of. Here is the next song to wander with:
